There’s not a cloud in the sky as they walk through the park. It’s a perfect day for a picnic. Or, at least, it would be if the temperatures weren’t so high. There’s not even a breeze to cool things down a bit.
All of the spots with even a hint of shade have been taken. Sara sighs. “Maybe we should just go home? At least there’s some shade in the backyard.”
Jason shakes his head. “We didn’t sit at home on our first date. Our anniversary should be in the park where we started.”
“We weren’t having an unprecedented heatwave that year either,” she shrugs. “We have reservations at Luigi’s tonight and I don’t want a heat headache when we go.”
“I guess.” They start towards the car until the sound of splashing and giggles register.
Curiosity won out and they went to investigate. There was a splash zone with lots of small kids running through the water and screaming. Sara grinned. “Want to go play?”
“Are you serious?” There wasn’t a single adult near the water.
She had already taken off her shoes. “Totally.”
She ran into the water and was immediately squirted in the face. “OMG!” she gasped. Giggling, she started spinning.
“You are insane,” he laughed, taking off his own shoes and joining her.
They started dancing around in the water as they were squirted by shots of water. It felt heavenly after the heat. He spun her and she slipped on the wet ground. She fell on her butt and he lost his balance and fell next to her.
They both started laughing. “Happy anniversary,” he said as he kissed her.
It’s so good to let out one’s inner child. Great story 🙂

Thank you 😊
It’s good when on the day of the anniversary there is a cheerful mood, even in spite of the heat.
A great way to celebrate a happy life anniversary.
