Movies and TV and Plays, Oh My!

I started writing this post on Sunday for a completely different reason but trashed it because I couldn’t come up with a raison d’etre. See? I can be fancy.

The first TV show that I watched when I was a kid that always stuck with me was The Addams Family. I loved it and I think my mom thought I was a little odd for watching the reruns over and over years after they were off the air.

I’m sure that my dominant personality was already showing itself because they were a perfect couple. He adored her. She adored him but she was always in charge.

She talked about him carving her initials in his leg. They had Thing—I mean, seriously, can you imagine? He went mad for her whenever she spoke French. They danced just because. In short, their relationship was what I imagined as a child.

I can’t be the only one because a TV show that only ran for two seasons in the mid-60s is actually still streaming. And while the movie is good and I love Anjelica Huston, she isn’t Carolyn Jones.

The first movie that I loved in a more adult and sexual way was Sex, Lies and Videotape. Of course, it has James Spader and that’s a great reason to watch it.

Why do I love it? I think it was the mindfuck of the whole situation that struck me. It’s hard to tell the exact order of events, what is videoed and what is reality and where the truth lies. It was a fascinating look into the raw sexual feelings and betrayals of the characters.

The last one I want to mention is a movie but we saw it as a play and I really loved it so much more live. Venus in Fur played in our local theatre company about five years ago.

While the story line totally fits within my Domme heart, it was fascinating watching the rest of the audience as the play unfolded. The entire play is only two characters and incredibly intimate. And the ending is amazing but I don’t want to give it away. I can, however, say there were some very speechless theatre patrons who had not read the play before going. LOL.

I’m sure there are many others but those initially came to mind. And why did I start writing this initially? Our dance instructor was watching us goof around a couple of weeks ago in a lesson and she said, “We really have to do an Addams Family routine for the two of you.” If she only knew….
