We had rented the boat for a couple of hours to get away from the crowds. The group was fun, but we really just wanted some time alone to explore. The water was crystal clear and we were on the hunt for fish and sea turtles.

There are times when photos are carefully planned and we know exactly what we are trying to show. Other times? I just sit down and we get lucky with the first one.
Continue reading “R is for Ready (For My Closeup)”M is for Mistake
I remember starting middle school and suddenly we had to write with pens. Pencils were only for math class. What if I made a mistake?
Continue reading “M is for Mistake”H is for Healthy Habits
Healthy habits are hard. Excluding college when I ate whatever was edible at the dining hall (cue: no vegetables or fruits usually), I tend to eat pretty well.

As the credits started to roll for Eat Pray Love, I say, “I want to go to Italy.” You laugh.

One of my favorite things about a hotel is a wonderful tub. And when it comes with a view?
Continue reading “S is for Skyline”H is for Hazy Hide-and-Seek
There is fog covering the pond where we had planned to hike. It isn’t cold, but it is hard to see more than a few feet in front of yourself.
Continue reading “H is for Hazy Hide-and-Seek”I is for Inverted
You never know what I’ll do when I’m editing photos. This time, I inverted the colors–I love how the flowers pop.
Continue reading “I is for Inverted”What IS Success?
Today’s bingo topic is “Career Success” – I can tell you right off the bat, that I’ve come to learn that this means all sorts of things to all sorts of people, and, to make it even more interesting, I believe it changes throughout your life. What a weird opening.
It sure seems to be the case. We’ve had our share of ups and downs, some extreme peaks and valleys thrown in throughout. I’m not sure at the “highs” that I’d call it success, but at the same time, it’s hard to call all the lows failures.
Continue reading “What IS Success?”L is for Lightning
We are in the midst of our summer monsoons. While the rain is needed and brings some cooler temperatures, the lightning is the star of the show.
Continue reading “L is for Lightning”B is for Blue (ish)
The Snake Den has been a little crowded the past several months and taking new photos has been–challenging, at best. Non-existent at worst. Luckily I have a stock of some older trip photos that were fun to take.

“We should have kept the hotel for another night,” she said, looking around the empty house. “We don’t even have our bed to sleep on.”
Continue reading “F is for Flexible”H is for Heat
A little bling, some red undies–it’s all I need to bring a little heat…
Continue reading “H is for Heat”1 is for 150
Yeah, I know. TECHNICALLY it’s not a “letter” thing for the Snake Den.
It’s ok. I’ll go with it.
So, there we are, just rousting out of bed on a Saturday morning. She rolls over, then rolls over again, now on top of me.
Grinning.

She walked in and saw him looking at an image on the computer. He was a photographer and it wasn’t unusual to see beautiful women on his screen.

She took a photo of the empty pier. The grey skies and cold water made it feel more like winter than July.
Continue reading “P is for Pier”F is for (Vegas) Food
There are a few restaurants that we always try to visit when we are in Vegas. There’s an Irish pub that has been a favorite for years. The newer favorite is a sushi and robata grill And the Mexican place that we found years ago hidden away in a flashy casino.

“Honey?”
“Yes, dear?” The smile on your face makes me roll my eyes, but laugh.

Sometimes I like to be subtle–not often, but sometimes.
Continue reading “U is for Up Close”Cleaning Up the Garage
“This sucks!” I grunt, moving things around the shelves, getting dusty and dirty, and realizing just how bad I am at keeping the garage anywhere near the level of organization it needs to be. “I really don’t understand how, with how little we’re out here, things seem to move around, scrounge up all the dirt in the world and pile it on – in places that make no sense. Gah!”
You laugh at me. You know I’m frustrated, but you also know I have a point. Just how DO things get so disheveled when it’s such a low-use area. It really does seem like they have a mind of their own. Screwdrivers, sneaking around. moving paintbrushes and turning cans of oil over. You giggle to yourself again, walking over to me.

Magic. The word just evokes childhood fantasy to me.
Continue reading “M is for Magic”B is for Border
Snake and I are at a figurative border between past and future. There are things that are resolving themselves in family life and after they are resolved, we are looking towards our future.

I showed the view from our window last week–I’m doing it again, just in a slightly different way.
Continue reading “B is for Bird’s Eye View”A is for August Prompt
August is such an odd month. When I was still in school, it was the last month of summer. When it started, there was still a lot of vacation still to relax and read. You could still have a road trip and have plenty of time to explore.
