W is for Winds of Change

“As the seasons change so do we. May we be aware we are shifting just like the wind.”

I’ve been reading several books lately that talk about seasons of life. I love this idea. And it makes it easier to let go of the things that are no longer right for our current season of life.

In my Charmer mind, it’s a lot like putting away the winter coats when summer shows up or the swimsuit when it gets cold. We might miss the sun’s warmth, but it seems silly to keep moving around a bathing suit when looking for a sweater.

And yet, I (and probably everyone else) tend to cling to the same things when our lives change. The outfit that was our favorite in the 90s just looks a bit silly now. If it even fits. Or maybe the artwork on the wall that was a gift from someone you haven’t spoken to in ten years.

Life changes. Often we don’t even notice because we are too busy with life. It’s hard to stop and look around, but we’ve been doing a lot of that this year. Getting rid of the old to make room for the new. And the new season is something to look forward to.

Yes, we get nostalgic for the past. But, we’ve learned that getting rid of the thing doesn’t erase the memory. It’s still there.

So the winds are blowing here in Tucson. It’s fall and that’s how we always know. But the winds of change are happening in the Snake Den too. And we can’t wait for what is next.
