As I am writing this, it is July 12th and it’s National Simplicity Day. As are many others, Snake and I are working to simplify our lives.
There is so much “muchness” in the world right now. Information comes from every direction and quiet is scarce. No, we don’t stick our heads in the sand and ignore what is going on in the world. I, however, can’t function well with the constant noise of chatter.
Part of this is turning off the TV and staying off the internet more. Part of it is losing the noise of the clutter in the house. There is so much more joy and calm with fewer items vying for our attention.
Other parts of it are paring the silent “to-do” list down to a manageable level. There are only so many hours in the day and dusting tchotchkes is just not a way that I want to spend my time. Fewer items to take care of means more time to spend doing fun things that we enjoy.
So here’s hoping that you find a bit of simplicity in your day and life.
“Our life is frittered away by detail…Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! I say, let our affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand…Simplify, simplify!”
Henry David Thoreau
