Review: The Handy

This was a product to test out and review. We noticed this on another site and Charmer decided we needed to get one of our own, test it out, see what it’s all about.

The Handy is really different. There is a lot to this – and so much more you can do after you learn about it, see what types of things it can do and apply it to your own use. Some unique things that come to mind:

  • It’s remote controllable over wifi (it connects to wifi)
  • Videos can control The Handy – synchronizing it with the action in the video
  • You can control it with on-board controls
  • You can control speed, range of movement it’s strong enough to maintain those in combination up to mind-melting speeds and SPM (my term, “strokes per minute”)

The device is flexible – you have a favorite stroker-style toy? Great – use it. Or get the one for the device. It’s a crazy strong motor at the core of this and it has the flexibility to pull it off.

So, what is it? It’s a mechanized stroker – sort of. It has a base unit with an attachment bracket that travels up and down the device (the stroke part) and is fully adjustable. You don’t do anything except hold on tight (as the receiver).

Our (now-)standard tests from Charmer –

  • Will it edge… oh yes.
  • Will it have enough control to ruin… oh yes.
  • Will it go all the way to serious orgasm? Oh yes.

One of the things that struck me is that it’s relentless. I don’t know how to describe it otherwise. It’s built to just keep going at whatever rate is intended, and the motor is strong enough that it can do just that. It doesn’t get tired, or change (unless told to adjust)… it just keeps going. That relentlessness was really something.

Giving away control is definitely one of my hot buttons. It goes right in line with all of the whole bondage thing and all of that. This is very much in that realm. You position, hold on and it does the rest. If you want it sync’d to a video, you don’t even have to watch the video, or don’t have to listen, or you can give over control to someone else.

The size of the unit is a beast. It has a big motor to house, and all of that is tucked away inside the case. When in use, you sort of place it upright on your abs and, um, insert the appropriate body part. You have to hold it there, while it does its thing, because it’s drawing leverage from the stability of the unit. (Can we please just get past the use of the word “unit” here and move on with this review?)

In other words, you have to provide a stable base for it all. This is one frustrating part – if you have it really winding up a storm (10 strokes/sec is the max I believe), it’s really moving. And, I can almost guarantee, you’ll want to be too. But you have to hold that base just so, otherwise, you’re out. Doesn’t happen once you get the hang of it, but you’ll experience it once or twice, I’m almost sure about it.

One thing – you adjust the “grip” – the strap around the sleeve – so you can make it as firm or light-handed as you need. They say you can use or not use lube, but I have to say, I can’t imagine this riding up and down without it, I think you’d be far less enthused by the action. I suspect the sleeve might slip out of the strap if too loose, but there’s a good bit of adjustment there.

I was surprised by this tool? toy? gizmo? because there were things that pushed my buttons that I never expected. The last of knowing what was happening – the remote aspect of it all – was really cool. The ability for this to go… and keep going (that whole “relentless” thing) was intense and Charmer was able to really leverage the variability of it all in very surprising ways. Having control over speed AND depth was really something.

[Charmer: It really, really was a great deal of fun. He might have gotten as much (OK, not quite as much) enjoyment out of my devious giggles as the toy itself.]

The only issue I had was the whole “hold on to the base unit” thing. It’s definitely not a deal breaker. It’s an amazing experience and I’m extremely happy we have it. Charmer is already coming up with games and different approaches (she’s the one that mentioned that if you don’t want to watch the video, you can still use it for the patterns it brings to the device. That, and challenges to last an entire video… yeah. Right.)

I guess the other challenge, really, was getting it all connected. I mean, you ARE connecting to your local WIFI, and have to jump up on the web site to get it all connected, but it’s not difficult.

Overall? I give it a heartfelt thumbs up. Way up. There are different price points depending on your shipping desires (like do you want to wait a month or whatever? Better price.) but overall, it was money well-spent. I’m really glad we have this in our arsenal and I’m sure Charmer’ll come up with some additional games and such that you’ll be hearing about.

    1. It really is. We’ve been having fun thinking up challenges with it. It’s especially fun because it’s so relentless. So learning those… Responses… Is going to be great fun. I suspect there may be a part 2 or 3 in the future as we learn more. I know, I know. Such torture. 😏
