L is for Liberating

If you had asked me what was liberating last year, I’m not sure what my answer would have been. It wasn’t really a thought because I wasn’t feeling constrained.

This year since the beginning of March, it has definitely been different. We were in Las Vegas the end of February and the first few days of March. Yes, there was news of some cases of COVID, but it didn’t feel big. We came home expecting to go to Portland for our trip in April.

Not only did we not go in April, our business, which is primarily family, moved to our house by the end of March. Bedrooms turned into offices and our life turned upside down.

I can’t complain totally because there was a lot of business while so many others were out of work. It was too much business for our small company and we found ourselves having to add people that we couldn’t interview in person and they worked from home. But it was a crazy and stressful time.

On top of that, masks are not my friend. Yes, I wear one when I go out. That said, I severely limit the times when I go out. The first time Snake and I went out to buy some home repair items, I almost had a panic attack in Lowe’s. I understand the importance, but because of my reactions, I haven’t been to the grocery store or anywhere else alone since March.

So one thing that is liberating? Removing my mask when I get back into the car. LOL. It is a huge feeling of “Ahhhhhh,” when it comes off.

What else has been liberating? Taking walks outside. Reading. Going to the park and having a picnic dinner. Snake making popcorn when we watch a movie so we feel like we are at the movies.

And looking forward. I look forward to going back to some of our favorite restaurants. I look forward to being able to start dance lessons again. I look forward to travel. Especially travel. And I look forward to gaining my independence back. The Domme is still in the building but she’d really like to go to the store alone.

  1. I am with you on the mask – I can not get on with them so hence am literally not going anywhere that i need one. Shopping is being delivered now and we rarely go anywhere social anyway – I do fear what will happen next, Wishing you both well

  2. We don’t have to wear masks outside just yet, but I don’t think it will take long before it becomes compulsory. I saw this joke somewhere: taking your mask off is the new taking your bra off at the end of the day 😉
